Background

I moved to Australia from the UK 20 years ago and have been working as a psychologist here ever since. Over the years I have supported clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I have worked across public mental health, including acute care and forensic settings and in private practice, helping clients navigate a range of complex emotions, behaviours and life challenges.

It is a privilege to walk alongside people during these times, offering warmth, authenticity, and a deep respect for an individual’s unique journey. I believe therapy should be a safe and supportive space where people feel heard and understood, and where they can build the skills and confidence to move toward a more fulfilling life.

In my spare time I love to get out into nature, spend time with my dog, travel and watch movies. I recently took up bowls so am also busy practicing at the weekends!

Therapeutic Approaches

Rachel draws on a range of evidence-based therapies to support clients in creating meaningful, lasting change. She takes a collaborative and strengths-based approach, guided by each person’s goals, values, and pace. Her therapeutic toolkit includes:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helping clients recognise and change unhelpful thought patterns that impact mood and behaviour.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Supporting clients to accept difficult emotions while taking action in line with their values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR): A structured approach to processing traumatic memories and reducing emotional distress.
  • Motivational Interviewing: Enhancing motivation and confidence to make meaningful changes, especially when feeling stuck or ambivalent.
  • Positive Psychology approaches: Focusing on strengths, resilience, and what contributes to psychological flourishing.
  • Mindfulness-based practices: Cultivating present-moment awareness and self-compassion to support emotional balance and wellbeing.

To make therapy more accessible, I also offer telehealth and after-hours appointments.
