I can offer you a safe space where we can collaboratively turn our attention inwards towards your internal world using a curious, non-judgmental stance. We will observe and try to understand your current concerns in light of your past patterns informed by clinical interventions & research. The type of clients that I am drawn to are interested in medium to long term therapy in order to change maladaptive coping strategies that are no longer benefiting the client . I am passionate about the process of empower you to find your own path towards living your values.

Bree is a Clinical Psychologist with a background working with clients on a variety of concerns. Her style of therapy is to create a safe space where curiosity, compassion are collaboratively directed towards your internal world. She has worked with clients from all ages on a variety of concerns including:

  • Difficulty in regulating emotions (i.e. going from 1-100)
  • Feeling you have a limited space to reflect on your needs.
  • Feeling unsafe.
  • Having a critical internal voice.
  • Experiencing intrusive thoughts and dreams.
  • Avoidance of your internal needs.
  • Experiencing low mood, numbness, avoidance, or dissociation.
  • Experiencing worry, hypervigilance, prolonged/unhelpful ruminations, passive aggressiveness.
  • Phobias, anxiety and panic symptoms.
  • Experiencing unhelpful thoughts or intrusions about big T or small t traumas.
  • Interpersonal communication difficulties
  • Having difficulty living by your values
  • Physical, emotional or sexual traumas.
  • Diagnosis of PTSD, adjustment disorder or CPTSD.
  • Wanting to change patterns of unhelpful thoughts/ behaviours.

I have worked in multiple settings with vulnerable members of society across the public mental health (community setting, inpatient unit, residential mental health facilities and NGO’s focused on victim survivors of sexual assault, Family violence as well as veterans) and now in private practice. My passion is to meet you where you are at, and collaborate with you on your therapy goals.

I am dedicated to providing a safe space for us to explore how your current symptoms are impacting you. I create this safe space by listening in a curious and compassionate way, and reflecting what I hear in order to make sure I understand the nuances of your experience. It is important to keep in mind that building trust can take time. This process will help us to work toward your goals.

In her down time, Bree enjoys riding her Dutch bicycle around and mindfully observing everything that passes her by, reading in coffee stores and in parks, and going for jogs.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Masters in Clinical Psychology from Central Queensland University
  • Graduate Diploma (Psychology) from Deakin University
  • Graduate Diploma (Psychology) from The University of Melbourne
  • Masters of Economics (Social Science) from the University of Sydney
  • Bachelors in Business from Swinburne University.

My approach draws upon multiple evidence based trauma informed therapeutic approaches such as:

  • Trauma informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

 

The initial focus will be on building a therapeutic alliance so that we can best determine which approach would fit you best.
